The City Council undertook a substantial amount of remedial work to the areas that were damaged at the end of the 2012 Folk Festival, following the downpour on the Sunday afternoon that, on top of the preceding wet weather, created very muddy conditions. Top soil was imported to help level out the areas that had been badly cut up, and the bare earth was reseeded. You can still see how the new grass is lined up in rows from the mechanical planting, but a good recovery has been made. The photos show the progression from rutted mud to re-established turf.
